Farmer to Thos. Mitchel To all Christian People to whom these presents shall come Greetings & know ye that I Joseph Farmer of the county of Bertie in the State of North Carolina have for and in Consideration of Eighty five pounds good & lawfull money of this State to me in hand paid before the Ensealing & delivery hereof have given granted bargained & Sold alined Convayd & Confirmed unto Thomas Mitchell of the county & State aforesaid one certain tract of land containing Fifty acres be the same more or Less Situate lying and being in Bertie County aforesaid. Begining at a poplar the old patent corner thence No. along aline of marked trees to to James Cook line a corner thence along Cook line to John Ealy line a corner tree thence along said thence along said Early line agreeable to the dimention of his deed & So. down a branch to the swamp a corner tree James Mitchel corner thence down his line of marked trees to the first station. To have and to hold the said granted & bargained premises withall the appurtenances Privilegdges & comenodties to the same belonging or in any wise appurtaining unto him the said Thomas Mitchell his heirs and assigns forever & more further I the said Joseph Farmer doth covenant promise & agree to & with the said Thomas Mitchell that before the Ensealing & delivery hereof I am the true sole & lawfull owner of the said Land & have in myself full power & lawfull authority to bargain & Sell the same in manner as above in fee simple & further I the said Joseph Farmer do bind myself my heirs Executors & Administrators & assigns to warrant & forever defend the said bargained premises unto him the said Thomas Mitchell his heirs and assigns forever against all the lawfull claims or demands of any person or persons whatsoever free & clear from all Incumbrances of what kind or nature soever the Land tax only excepted.
