To all Peoples to whom these presents shall come  I  Joseph Farmer do send 
Greeting  Know ye that I the Said Joseph Farmer of the State of North 
Carolina in the County of Bertie  Planter  for and in consideration of the 
Love  good will and affection which I have and do bear towards my loving 
Son William Farmer of this same County of and State  have given and granted 
and by these presents do freely and grant unto the said William Farmer 
his Heirs  Executors and Administrators all my land that is lying on 
the West Side of cashie Road in the County and State aforesaid  begining 
on the Sd Road at a Small Branch near Seguir (sp.?) Swamp Runing

West up the Said Branch to the Rainbow branch  at the fork of the 
Branch  thence up the left Hand prong of Sd Rainbow branch to the 
Head line of Batten (sp.?) thence North along that line to a Red oak a corner 
Post 
Joining James Hules Land  thence East along a line of marked 
trees to Sd Road  thence South along the Sd Road to the first Station 
Containing one Hundred Acres lie the Same  more or less of which 
Said Land I Have given Him the Said William Farmer To Have and to 
Hold the aforesaid parcel of Land with all the Rights  Previleges Com
modities  Hereditaments (sp.?) appurtenants  apurdants (sp.?) thereunto 
belonging 
or in any wise appertaining unto him the Sd. William Farmer  his Heirs 
and assigns forever with all the Lands  Wood  Cleared Ground  Houses 
and all other Previledges thereunto belonging Quitrents only Excepted 
unto unto him the Said William Farmer  his Heirs and assigns forever 
In Witness whereof I the Sd. Joseph Farmer have Hereunto Set my 
hand & Seal this Eleventh day of August in the Seventh year of 
our Independance 1783.                     his

The within Deed was proved in open Court in due form 
of Law by the oath of James Farmer one of the Subscribing 
Witnesses and ordered to be Regestered.  Stevens Gray  C. C.

Note from transcriber:  My Farmer family research, along with all of my record 
transcriptions are purely a labor of love.  I’ve tried my best to keep true to 
the original spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and length of sentences 
found in this land deed.  Some words were extremely hard to read, so if you 
find I have made a mistake then please, let me know and corrections will be 
made.  It is the opinion of this transcriber & researcher that the witness in 
the above deed, James Farmer Junr., is one and the same as my ancestor James 
Farmer (b: circa 1760, aka: Thomas James Farmer, Sr.), found in early Jackson, 
Gwinnett, Henry, & Newton County, Georgia.  A copy of this deed can be found 
in the LDS Library located in Salt Lake City, UT.
