Fleetwood & Wife, } to Isom Boyce . . . . } This Indenture made this Twenty Seventh day of January in the year of our Lord Christ One Thousand Seven Hundred and Ninety five and in the Nineteenth Year of the American Independence Between Jeremiah Fleetwood & Mary Fleetwood of the County of Bertie and state of North Carolina of the one part, and Isam Boyce of the County & state aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said Jeremiah Fleetwood and Mary Fleetwood for and in Consideration of the sum of Five Hundred and Twenty five pounds to them in hand paid by the said Isam Boyce before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof the said Jeremiah Fleetwood and Mary Fleetwood do hereby Acknowledge and thereof do acquit and discharge the said Isam Boyce his Heirs Executors Administrators and every of them by these presents have Granted Bargained sold enfeoffed and confirmed and by these presents for themselves and their Heirs do fully and absolutely grant & sell, enfeoff and confirm unto the said Isam Boyce his Heirs and assigns forever one Messuage or Tract of Land situate lying and being in Bertie County, being a Tract of Land sold by Hardy Murfree Commissioner of Confiscated property for the district of Edenton and formerly the property of Nathaniel Duckinfield as will appear by the Deed and Survey from his Excellency ~ Richard Caswell bearing Date the fifteenth day of November one Thousand seven Hundred and Eighty seven beginning at Ducking run bridge running the Road North Eighteen degrees west four Hundred and Thirty two poles to a sweet Gum in Green Branch running thence the said branch Rasors line south eighty west eighty pole to a red Oak saplin thence North eighty west one Hundred and sixty poles to a Gum thence south Twenty East five Hundred and forty four poles to the head of Mircy (Mirey?) branch and thence the branch said course to ducking run and thence the windings of said run to the first station containing five Hundred and seventy nine acres more or less To have & to hold the said Granted and bargained Premises with all the appertenances thereunto belonging to him the said Isam Boyce his Heirs and Assigns forever to his and their proper use and benefit and we the said Jeremiah Fleetwood and Mary Fleetwood for ourselves our Heirs Executors & Administrators do Covenant promis & Grant, to and with the said Isam Boyce his Heirs and assigns that before the ensealing hereof we are the true sole and Lawfull owner of the above Bargained Premises and that the said Isam Boyce his Heirs Executors Administrators or Assigns shall and may from time to time and forever here after by force and Virtue of these presents Lawfully have hold use possess and enjoy the said bargained Premises & we the said Jeremiah Fleetwood & Mary Fleetwood do Warrant and defend the above mentioned Premises against the Lawful Claim or Demands of any person or persons Whatsoever.
