BERTIE COUNTY Deeds Land Dispute - Freeman,Robert and Bryant,Wm-1786 File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Cathy Farris cfassir@netdex.com N304 Agreement between Robert FREEMAN and WIlliam BRYANT 1786 Whereas there has been a dispute between William BRYAN and Robt FREEMAN about a dividing line between the said William BRYAN and Robert FREEMAN in or near the percoson joyning the marsh called FREEMAN Marsh and to put an end to the said dispute we the subscribers have met and made a dividing line in the presents of the witnesses to this writing in the following manner. Beginning at a Cypress and sweet gum William TURNERS, William TURNERS and Needham BRYAN corner then running E20° South along a row of marked trees to a Cypress and persimmon then ES of a ditch then E11½° South to a small Cypress William BRYANS corner in the marsh which line is agree shall stand and remains the dividing line between us our heirs and assings forever for and in consideration of the said line being made the said William BRYAN agrees to allow the said Robt FREEMAN his heirs and assign to cut back a ditch on the said FREEMANS line heirs or assigns shall think sufficient to drean his marsh keeping the courses of the said Indian Creek from the above line to the lower part said land but not to prevent the said William BRYANs his heirs and assigns from keeping a line across the said ditch to keep out hogs and tother stock and not in any manner to prevent the water running. In witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands and seals this 22 day of August one thousand seven hundred and eight six.
