BERTIE CO, NC DEED Knight, William to Conner, William -1746 File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Ann Conner Galas CGalas@aol.com KNIGHT TO CONNER February 10, 1746/7 deed book G pages 19-20-21 To all people to whom these presents shall come greetings KNOW ye that I WILLIAM KNIGHT of Bertie county in North Carolina Planter for and in consideration of the sum of Five Pounds Twelve Shillings current money of Virginia to me in hand paid before the ensealing hereof well and trully paid by WILLIAM CONNER of Bertie County in the aforesaid province Planter the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge my self therewith fully satisfied and contented and therefore I deliver part and parcel thereof I do acquit exonerate and discharge the said WILLIAM CONNER his heirs executors administrators forever by these presents have given granted bargained sold aliened conveyed and confirmed and by the presents do freely fully absolutely give grant bargain sell alien convey and confirm unto the said WILLIAM CONNER his heirs executors administrators and assigns one certain tract of land as hereafter described containing one hundred and twenty five acres more or less by Patent granted to the said WILLIAM KNIGHT dated this tenth day of February 1746/7 as follows Beginning at a cypress in Pottacasey Creek LEONARD LANGSTONS corner, then along his line N.W. unto a pines in LEONARD LANGSTONS line corner, then N.W. along a line of marked trees unto HENRY COPELANDS line a corner and down his line to Pottacasey when the courses of the Pottacasey to the first station to have and to hold the said granted and bargained premises with all the apputances proviledges and comoditys thereto belonging or in any wise appertaining to the said WILLAM CONNER his heirs executors administrators and assigns forever, to his and their only proper use and benefit and behoof for ever and I the said WILLIAM KNIGHT for me and my heirs executors administrators do convanent promise and grant to and with the said WILLIAM CONNER his heirs and assigns before the ensealing hereof I am the true sole and lawfull owner of the above premises I am lawfully seized of property of the same in my own proper right as good and perfect absolute Estate of Inheritance in Fee Simple I have in myself good rightfull power of lawfull authority to grant, bargain, sell, convey and confirm the said bargained premises and that the said WILLIAM CONNER his heirs and assigns shall and may from time to time and all times forever hereafter by force of virtue of these presents lawfully peaceably and quietly have hold use and occupy property and enjoy the said demised and bargained premises with the appurtances free and clear and freely and clearly acquittted exonerated discharged from all and all manner of former and other gifts grants bargains sales mortgages wills intails (ioyorteres, sp) dowers judgments, executions, incumbrances and extents and furthermore I the said WILLIAM KNNIGHT for myself my heirs executors, administrators do covenant and engage the above demised premises to him the said WILLIAM CONNER his heirs and assigns against the lawfull claims or demands of any person or persons that ever may lay claim do warrant secure and defend in witness whereof I have here unto set my hand and sales this tenth day of February in the year of our Lord God in 1746/7 Signed sealed and in the presence of us JOHN BROWN WILLIAM KNIGHT and Seal ISAAC CARTER Bertie County and May Court 1747 The above deed of sale was duly proved in open court by the oath of JOHN BROWN esq.
