McCollum" Bertie County, North Carolina, Deed Book V, p. 566 - Garrettıs to McGlohnıs This Indenture made the fourth day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & eleaven (sic), Between Everard Garrett of Hertford County & State of NoCarolina & Mary Garrett of Bertie County of state aforesaid of the one part, & George McGlohn & Martha his wife of Hertford County & state aforesaid of the other part, Witnesseth, That Whereas, the said Mary Garrett did on the 7th day of April in the year of our Lord 1807, enter as Guardian to the said Everard a certain Tract, piece or parcel of Land lying & being in the County of Bertie aforesaid and obtained a Grant for the same from the State bearing date the 19th day of November in the year of our Lord 1807. Bounded as follows, towit, Beginning at a pine Aaron Outlaws corner, Thence along his line N.41.E. 20 poles to a red oak, Thence N.26.E. 42 poles to a pine a corner on Freemans branch, Thence up the various courses of said branch to a pine standing in said branch in the line of the Land belonging to the Heirs of David Garrett decd., Thence on their line N.50.W. to the first station, Containing Twency one and one half acres, and Whereas the said George McGlohn & Martha his wife came forward & claimed the said tract of Land stating & making it appear to the satisfaction of the said Everard & Mary that it is contained in & is a part of a tract of Land devised to the said Martha by her father Solomon Freeman decd. in his last Will & testament, that the said tract of Land is a part of a survey of Land Granted to Thomas Bray by patent bearing date the 20th July 1717.--since which date the said tract of Land has been passed by legal conveyances through a variety of hands (two(sic) tedious to mentioned) until it was conveyed by deed bearing date the 22nd day of Decr 1786 by Elisha Freeman to the above named Solomon Freeman decd. & by him devised to the said Martha as aforesaid so as to vest in her an Estate of Inheritance,---and in order to do that which is just and right, do away contention & prevent litigation, We the said Everard & Mary his Guardian (who took it up by said entry for the said Everard as his Guardian) Do by these presents convey transfer deliver and forever setover unto the said George & Martha his spouse all the said tract piece or parcel of Land & premises above mentioned & described so as to vest in the said George & Martha his wife the same Estate rights title interest property claim & demand as tho the said Land & premises had never been Granted to the said Everard in as full and ample a manner to all intents & purposes a,(sic) the most learned in the Law could have devised by these presents.-----In Testimony whereof the said Everard & Mary hath hereunto set their hands & seals the day and date first above written.
