To all Christian people to whom these presents shall come I William GRAY of Bertie 
prect Gent. In the name of God Everlasting send Greeting. Now Know yee that I the 
sd Wm GRAY for and in consieratin of the sum of Eighty pounds to me in hand paid 
by Robert HODGES of Bertie Prect planter the receipt whereof I do hereby 
acknowledge and for divers other good causes and considerations me hereunto 
moveing Have bargain and sold aliened enseossed? and confirmed by thee presents -  
do bargain sell alien encheat? and confirm unto Robert HODGES his heirs and 
assigns forever a plantation and tract of land containing four hundred and eight 
acres lying in Bertie prect. beginning a a gum on the N E side of Little Roquist 
Swamp Jame WILLIAMS corner tree running thence with his line No75 Wt 240 pole to 
the center of a gum red oak and white oak then So 15 Wt 240 pole to the center of 
a white oak and two black oaks then So 80 Et 380 pole to an oak in Little Roquis 
standing __ MILTONS line thence to the first station. To the use and behoof of im 
the said Robt HODGES his heirs and assigns forever - and the sd Wm GRAY my heirs 
Exe and Adm covenant promise and agree to and with the sd Robt HODGES his heirs 
Exe and assigns may have hold occupy possess and enjoy the said tract of land and 
all the rights priviledges and immunites forever without the let suite trouble 
eviction and molestation of or from me the sd William GRAY my heirs Exe and Adm or 
of or from any other persons claiming any right title or interest there unto by or 
under me or them or any or either of themand I the said William GRAY  do for 
myself my heirs Exe and Adm further covenant promise and agree to and with the sd 
Robt HODGES  his heirs and assigns by these presents that I the sd Wm GRAY my 
heirs Exe and Assigns shall and will  ___? sd tract of land ag __ all or any 
person or persons claiming any right title or interest thereunto or to any part or 
percil therof unto the sd Robt HODGES his heirs and assigns forever warrant and 
defend. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this the seventh 
day of March and the 13th year of the reign of our sovereign George of Great 
Britain ye King Anno Dom 1726

This is the same wording as the deed written by William GRAY to Needham BRYAN same year. Maybe William GRAY had so many deeds to write that this is the form he used, Cathy
