BERTIE COUNTY Deed - James Grimes to James Ruffin - Feb 8, 1804 File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Virginia Crilley varcsxi@hot.rr.com Bertie County, NC Deed Book T p 19 James Grimes et ux to James Ruffin This indenture made this 3rd day of February one thousand eight hundred and four between James GRIMES of the state of North Carolina and county of Bertie of the one part and James Ruffin of the same state and county of the other part. Witnesseth that for an inconsideration of the sum of seventy dollars to said Grimes in hand paid by said Ruffin at or before the ensealing and elivering of these present the receipt whereof he doth herby acknowledge & therefor release acquit and is charge the said james Ruffin his heirs Ext by these present. The said Grimes hath granted, bargained, sold allign and confirmed uno the said James Ruffin his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or message of land lying and being in the State and County aforesaid Beginning at a dead pine Charles Kings and Isaac Gardners line Thence along Richard Veal's line N12 E to a black gum his corner in deep Branch T hence E31 pole to a pine in Charles King's line, thence along his ling S.6, E 18 pole to two pines, corner thence along hsi other line S 33 1/2 W 103 poles to the first station. Containing twenty (20) acres more or less with all appurtenances whatsoever to the same. To have and hold the lands hereby conveyed and all and singular the other premises hereby bargained and sold and every part and parcel thereof unto the said james Ruffin heirs and assigns to the only proper use and behoof of him the said James Ruffin, his heirs and assigns forever, and the said James Grimes for himself his heirs, exr & doth grant to said James Ruffin his heirs and assigns by these presents the said James Grimes now at the time of sealing and delivering these present is sealed, a usre perfect and ineffaceable right of and in th epremises hereby bargained, and that Thomas James Grimes, and his heirs all and singular...
