Witnesseth that I, the said James Grimes hath bargaine, sold and put into possession of the said Richard Veale a certain tract or messuage of land laying and being in the state and county aforesaid: Lying in Rocquit Pocosin, it being a part of the land that belonged to Morris Veal's deceased. Butted and bounded as follows: Beginning at a water oak William Veal's corner Then along his line S 67 E 50 pole to a red oak in said line Isaac Gardener's corner Thence along his line S50 W 36 pole to the corner of two beaches and a pine insaid line, Richard Veale's corner Then allong his line N24.5 W 49 pole in the first station first mentioned hence. Beginning at a sweet gum N40 W53 pole to Isaac Gardner's line, then along his line, S70 E 54 pole to a black gum in William Veal's line Then along his line S22 W 17 pole to the first station all which lands within the above boundary containing eight acres be the same more or less. I the said James Grimes for myslef, my heirs executors or administrators or assing hath bargained sold and conveyed to the said Richard Veal him, his heirs exrs, Adms with all priviledges, profits or advantages therein contained or in any other wise appertaiining to him and his use for the sume of Ten Pounds to me the said James Grimes now in hand paid the receipt whereof thereby acknowledge and myslef satisfied and paid and furthermore I the same James Grimes do warrant and agree to an with the said Richard Veal to forever warrant and defend the title of the above premises of land unto the said Richard Veal clear from all incumbrances, rights, or claims of any person whosoever for me my heirs Executors, Admins. Carolina Bertie County May Term 1805 The within deed from James Grimes and Catherine Grimes his wife to Richard Veale was acknowledged in open court and the said James Grimes. Ordered to be registered. George Gray, Ck. Note: See all deed same day from Dempsey Veal to Richard Veale, as well as James Ruffin and Margaret Veal. James Grimes had previously sold to James Ruffin 20 acres (Feb 13, 1804) part of this same land.
