Carolina and County of Bertie hath sold and delivered unto Wm Gardner of the State and County aforesaid, a certain Neroe man by the name of Ben. For the sum of three hundred and sixty dollars to me the said, Jesse Harrell, in hand paid the receipt hereof I hereby acknowledge and myself testified. And Furthermore I the said Jesse Harrell do covenant and agree to and with the said Wm Gardner for me, my heris, executors, adminstrators or assigns to forever warrant and defend the title of the aforesaid Negro Ben to him his heris, exec, administrators or assigns clear from the title or claim of any person that whatever as witness my hand and seal this 13 of May 1799.
