Book A page 356 actually  or Book B- 

"Notation: Here ends the Old Book A, and is New
Copyed and here begins the new copying, the Old Book

As I read about Bertie County, I find that in the
year 1796 & 1797 the Court approved and ordered the
copying on the older Books due to the condition they
were in. This was done to preserve them due to the
fact of torn pages & neglect. They claim to have not
been changed in any way, only copied new.

Lawrance Hobby to Aaron Drake

Know all men by these presents that I Lawrence Hobby
of the County of Albermale in North Carolina in
Bertie Precinct, Planter, for and in consideration
of twelve pounds current money of Carolina, to me in
hand paid by Aaron Drake of the County & Precinct
aforesaid, before the sealing & delivery of these
presents with which I acknowledge myself fully
satisfied, have bargained, sold, alienated & sell
over & do by these presents for me & my heirs
forever bargain, sell & deliver, enfeoff, Transfer &
confirm unto the said Aaron Drake, his heirs &
assigns forever a certain Dividend of land
containing by estimation, one hundred Acres of land
be the same more or less of said Dividend being part
of a Parcel of Ground I purchased of John Bayley,
Situate on the South side of Meherrin River in the
Prect. above & being this.

At this point the Courthouse did not make the next
page. I assume this would be page 1 of book B.
