BERTIE COUNTY Misc Deeds Hocott, Edward to John Edwards -1743 File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Hocott@aol.com Lorene Rambo Edward Hocott to John Edwards Deeds of Bertie County, Book F, p. 512 North Carolina To all People to whom these presents shall come greeting and know ye that I Edward Hocott of Beaufort County for and in consideration of two hundred pounds current money of Virginia to me in hand paid by John Edwards of Cashy in the County of Bertie with which I acknowledge myself content Have bargained and sold and by these presents Do fully, freely, clearly, and absolutely give, Grant, Bargain, Sell, Allien, Release, Convey, Confirm, Assign, Transfer unto him the said John Edwards, his heirs and assigns forever. One certain Dividend of Land Situate Lying and Being in Bertie County aforesaid Upon Roquip swamp--containing by estimation three hundred and forty acres be it more or less Butted and Bounded as follows to wit, Beginning at Phillip Walstons corner on the East Side of Roquiss swamp Then with his line 60 poles to a post Jonathan Stanleys corner then with his other line 85 degrees East to the center of a pine, a maple and a white oak Another of Walston's corners in Col. Cullen Pollocks Lines then along his Line 820 poles to the center of a hickory and Spanish Oak on Roquiss Then the various windings of the swamp to the first station To have and to hold the aforesaid Dividend of Land Bargained and sold as aforesaid and all and singular the rights priviledges, comoditys, Heraditaments, appurtenances, and appendants thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining in Fee Simple absolutely in as full and ample manner to all Intents and purposes as the most learned in the Law can Devise Free from all Incumbrances whatsoever (Quitrents only excepted) unto him the said John Edwards his heirs and assigns forever hereby covenanting so to warrant and Defend the Same to him and them against the lawfull claim of all other persons whatsoever. In Wittness whereof I the Said Edward Hocott have hereunto set my hand and seal this 11th Day of August Anno Don. 1743.
