Witnesseth that the said JOHN HODGSON for and in consideration of the sum of twelve pounds curr. money of Virginia to him in hand paid and satisfied He have given, granted, bargained sold aliened, released Enfeoffe and confirmed and by these present doth absolutely give grant alien Enfeoffe, and confirm unto the said WILLIAM RUFFIN his heirs and assigns forever one certain tract or parcel of land containing 160 one hundred and sixty acres, be it more or less lying in the Long Meadow within the said precinct bounded from a Marked pine on the side of the said Meadow. Then running NE to a corner then East to the said Ruffin Corner Then down his line to the Meadow. Then the winding of the Meadow to the place begun. And is part of a Tract of lands formerly granted to Rich. Melton for 600 and forty acres ? the first day of April 1723. it being that part of land and plantation whereon Andrew Ireland now lives To Have and to hold the said land with all the houses, orchards and Gardens with all conveniences or in any way to the said land belonging or appertaining to have and to hold the said land and all and singular the premises unto the said WILLIAM RUFFIN in his heirs and assigns forever, in as pure, absolute, apparent manner as the same is granted to the said Melton by the patent aforesaid. In witness whereof this: I the said John HODGSON hath hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year first above written. J. Hodgson & a seal.
