All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by JGH900@aol.com Jim Holder http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/bertie.htm Deed from Thomas Holder Sen'r to James Williams Deed Book L, Page 197 Deed dated December 12, 1769 Recorded December Court 1769 "North Carolina} Bertie County } Know all men by these presents that I THOMAS HOLDER SEN'R of the County & Province aforesaid for & in consideration of the Sum of Thirty pounds good & lawfull money of No. Carolina to me in hand paid by JAMES WILLIAMS of the county & province aforesaid before the ensealing & delivery hereof have given granted & by these presents have given, granted, bargained, sold, aliended, conveyed & confirmed unto him the said JAMES WILLIAMS his heirs & assigns forever one certain tract of land containing Two hundred acres more or less, out of a tract of Land granted bv paten to WILLIAM WILSON Butted & Bound as followeth Begining on Cashy Swamp at a gum Runing thence a concluded line to the Head Line. To have & to hold the said land with all appurtenances Previledges & commodities to him belonging or in any wise appertaining unto him the said JAMES WILLIAMS his heirs & assigns forever to his & their only proper use benefit & behoof forever & further I the said THOMAS HOLDER SEN'R do covenant promise & grant to & with the said JAMES WILLIAMS his heirs & assigns forever that before the ensealing & delivery hereof I am the true sole & lawfull owner of the said bargained premisses & have in myself good right full power & lawfull authority to bargain & sell the same in Fee Simple & further I the said THOMAS HOLDER SEN'R do bind my self my heirs executors administrators to warrent & defend the said sale & premisses unto him the JAMES WILLIAMS his heirs & assigns forever against the lawfull claim or demand of any person or persons whatsoever free & clear freely & clearly from all manner of incumbrances of what kind or nature so ever his Majesties & the Earl of Granville Quitrents & arrears only Excepted.
