All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by JGH900@aol.com Jim Holder http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/bertie.htm Deed from Thomas Holder Sen'r to John Holder Deed dated December 12, 1769 Deed Recorded December Court 1769 Deed Book L, Pages 196/7 "North Carolina} Bertie County } Know all men by these presents that I THOMAS HOLDER SEN'R of the County & province aforesaid for & in consideration of the Sum of Thirty pounds good & lawfull money of North Carolina to me in hand paid by JOHN HOLDER of the County & province aforesaid do give, grant, bargain, sell, alien, convey & confirm & by these presents have given, granted, bargained, sold, conveyed & confirmed unto him the said JOHN HOLDER his heirs & assigns forever one certain tract of land containing one hundred & Sixty acres more or less lying on the South East side of Poplar Branch in Bertie aforesaid Butted & bound as followeth: one hundred acres out of a tract of land taken up by WILLIAM WILSON & the other Sixty out of a tract pattented by JOHN GRANT, to have & to hold the said land with all appurtanances, Previledges & Commodities to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining to him the said JOHN HOLDER his heirs & assigns forever to him & their only proper use, benefit & behoof forever and further I the said THOMAS HOLDER SEN'R do covenant promise & grant to & with the said JOHN HOLDER his heirs & assigns forever that before the ensealing & delivery hereof I am the true sole & lawfull owner of the above bargained premisses & am lawfully seized and possessed of the same in my own proper good right & absolute Estate of Inheritance in fee Simple & further I the said THOMAS HOLDER SEN'R do bind myself my heirs executors administrators to warrent & defend the abovesaid sale and premisses unto him the said JOHN HOLDER his heirs & assigns for ever against the lawfull claims or demands of any Person or Persons whatsoever free & clear freely & clearly from all manner of Incumbrances of what kind or nature soever his Majesties & the Earl of Granville Quitrents & arrears only Excepted.
