"To all people to whome these presents shall come greeting.
Know ye that we THOMAS HOLDER, JAMES HOLDER and EZEKIEL
HOLDER of County of Bertie and State of North Carolina for
and in consideration of the sum of Sixty three pounds
fifteen shillings current money of the state to us in hand
before the ensealing hereof by ELISHA HOLDER of the state &
county aforesaid, the receipt whereof we do hereby
acknowledge and ourselves therewith fully satisfied and
contented and whereof and of every part and parcel thereof
do exonerate acquit and discharge the said ELISHA HOLDER his
heirs executors and administrators forever by these presents
have given, granted, bargained, sold, aliened, conveyed and
confirmed and by these presents do freely fully and
absolutely give, grant, bargain, sell, alien, convey and
confirm unto him the said ELISHA HOLDER his heirs and
assigns forever all the right & title that we have to one
messuage or tract of land situate lying and being in Bertie
County aforesaid containing be estimation one hundred and
sixty five acres, more or less, lying and being on the North
of Cashy Swamp Beginning on Cashy Swamp at the mouth of
Poplar Branch running up the said branch which is JAMES
TAYLOE's line and DAVID PRUDEN's to JAMES WILLIAMS' line
then along his line to Cashy Swamp and from thence down the
various courses of the run of the said swamp to the first
station, Containing by estimation one hundred & Sixty five
acres be he same more or less, To have & to hold the said
granted and bargained premises with all the appurtenances
priviledges and commotities to the same belonging or in any
wise appertaining to him the said ELISHA HOLDER his heirs
and assigns forever to his and their only proper use benefit
and behoof forever, and we the said THOMAS, JAMES and
EZEKIEL HOLDER for our heirs executors administrators, do
covenant promise and grant to & with the said ELISHA HOLDER
his heirs & assigns that before the ensealing hereof we are
the true sole and lawful owners of the above bargained
premises and are lawfully seized and possesed of the same in
our proper rights as a good perfect and absolute Estate in
fee simple, and have in ourselves good right full power &
lawful authority to grant, bargain, sell, convey and confirm
the said bargained premises in manner as above said and the
said ELISHA HOLDER his heirs & assigns shall and may from
time to time and at all times forever hereafter by force and
virtue of these presents lawfully, peaceably and quietly
have, hold, use, occupy, possess and enjoy the said demised
and bargained premises with the appertenances free & clear
and freely and clearly acquitly, exonerated and discharged
of and from all manner of former and other gifts, grants,
bargains, sales, leases, mortgages, wills, entails,
jointuries, dowries, judgments, executions, incumbrances and
extants, Furthermore we the said THOMAS, JAMES & EZEKIEL
HOLDER for our selves our heirs, executors, administrators,
do covenant and engage the above demised premises to him the
said ELISHA HOLDER his heirs & assigns, against the lawful
claims or demands of any person or persons whatsoever
hereafter to warrant secure & defend. In witness whereof we
have hereunto set our hands & seals this twenty seventh day
of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight
hundred, and in the twenty seventh of American Independence.
