Between Edward Howcott of the County of Albemarle and precinct of Chowan in North Carolina and Tamer his wife and John Perry of the upper parish of Nansemond County in Virginia. Witnesseth that the said Edward Howcott for the valuable consideration of fifty pounds sterling money of Great Brittain "two hundred fifty acres of Land situate lying and Being in Chowan precinct on Wicacon pocassin begining at a pine in the poquasin running North 55 West 50 poles to an Oake thence North 26 East 80 poles to an Oake on the poquasson then S 64 East 120 pole to an Oak thence North 40 pole to an Oak then East 40 poles then the same course 60 poles to an oak on the side of the Poquosson then So E from the Poquosson 60 poles to an Oake then southwest to a pine from thence various courses along the Swamp to the first station" 250 acres which land was formerly surveyed for George Gladstain by him assigned to William Browne the said William Browne dying the said Land dessended to his Son Beale Browne and by the said Beale Brown assigned and transferred to the above Edward Howcott party to these presents as by a pattent granted to the said Edward Howcott for the aforesaid quantity of Two hundred and fifty acres bearing date the first day of April which was in the year of our Lord Christ 1720. To Have and To Hold unto John Perry and his heirs, etc. Guarantees clear and free title and use. "all houses orchards clear grounds woodlands Grounds and woods all waters and timber trees meadows and meadow Grounds Low grounds swamps marshes springs and fountains" Edward Howcott and his wife Tamer warrant . . . In witness whereof they the said Edward Howcott and Tamar his wife both hereunto sett their hands and fix their seals.
