File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Lorene Rambo hocott@aol.com Transcriber's Note: This area of Chowan became Bertie County in 1722. ========================= Deeds of Chowan, North Carolina Book W, p. 329 Edward Howcutt to Anderson North Carolina This Indenture made and constituted (?) the Nineteenth day of July in the year of Our Lord 1736 Between Edward Howcutt of Chowan Precinct in the Province aforesaid of the one part and Joseph Anderson of the precinct and province aforesaid of the other part witnesseth that the said Edward Howcutt for and in consideration of the sum of forty pounds Current Money of the said Province to him in hand paid by the said Joseph Anderson the Receipt whereof the said Edward Howcutt doth hereby acknowledge he the said Edward Howcutt hath Granted Bargained Sold aliened and ___ and confirmed and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell alien and confirm unto the said Joseph Anderson his Heirs and assigns for ever all that lott of land sittuate in Edenton in the province aforesaid commonly known and distinguished in the old plan of the said Town of Edenton by the letter D and also all the houses outhouses land trees woods underwood Tithes commons common of pasture profits commodities advantages heriditaments ways water and appurtenances whatsoever to the said lott land and premises above mentioned belonging or in any ways appertaining and also the reversion and reversions Remainder or Remainders rents and Services of the said Premises and of every part thereof and all the Estate Right Title Interest claim and Demand whatsoever of him the said Edward Howcutt for himself and his Heirs the said lott premises and every part thereof against him and his Heirs and against all and every other person and persons whatsoever to the Said J. L. Anderson his Heirs and assigns will warrant and for Ever Defend by these presents In Witness whereof the said parties have hereunto interchangeably set their hands and seals the day and year first above written.
