File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Lorene Rambo hocott@aol.com ========================= John Howcott to Williamson Deeds of Bertie County, Book E, p. 371 September 26, 1737 North Carolina To all people to whom these Presents shall Come I John Howcott of Bertie precinct Yeoman sends Greeting and Know ye that I the said John Howcott for and in consideration of Piece of Land in Exchange from Williamson of Bertie precinct Have bargained sold and Exchanged and by these presents do fully freely clearly and absolutely give grant bargain sell alien Release Convey Confirm assign Transfer and set over unto him the said William Williamson his heirs and assigns forever a certain Plantation and parcel of Law situate Lying and being in Bertie Precinct aforesaid Containing by Estimation forty acres of land be the same more or less bounded thus viz. beginning at a white Oak upon vixes Branch then Down Vixes Branch to the mouth of it thence up Sandy Run to a Hickory Thence along the said William Williamsons Land Line to the first station to Have and to hold the said Plantation and parcel of Land and all and singular the Rights Priviledges Commodities profits advantages hereditaments appurtenances and appendants thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining unto him the said William Williamson His heirs and assigns forever in fee Simple absolutely free to the only use and behoof of him and them forever. In as full and ample manner to all Intents and purposes as the most Learned in the Law can Devise further I the said John Howcott formyself my heirs Executors and administrators do Covenant and Engage to and with the said William Williamson his heirs and assigns forever to warrant and forever Defend the said plantation and Parcel of Land with its appurtenances free from all Encumbrances whatsoever (accruing Quitrents only Excepted) unto Him the aid William Williamson his heirs and assigns forever against all other Lawfull Claims whatsoever. In Witness whereof I the said John Howcott Have Hereunto set my Hand and seal this 26 day of September Anno Dom. 1737. John Howcott (seal) Sealed and Delivered in presence of John Wynns, Wm. M. Rogers, Richard R. Williamson Bertie Precinct Nov. Court 1738 The aforewritten deed of sale was acknowledged in open court in due form of Law which on motion ordered it to be Registered.
