File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Lorene Rambo hocott@aol.com ========================= William Williamson to John Howcott Deeds of Bertie County, Book E, p. 368 September 26, 1737 North Carolina To all people to whom these Presents Shall Come William Williamson of Bertie Precinct Yeoman and Mary his wife Sends Greeting and Know ye that I the said William Williamson for and in Consideration of a piece of Land in Exchange from John Howcott of Bertie precinct yeoman Have bargained sold and Exchanged and by these Presents do fully freely Clearly and absolutely give grant bargain sell alien Enfroffe Release Convey Confirm assign Transfer and Set over unto him the said John Howcott His heirs and assigns forever a certain plantation whereon Richard Malpass formerly Dwelt (with an addition piece) situate Lying and being in Bertie precinct aforesaid Containing in the whole by Estimation one Hundred and six acres be it more or less bounded thus viz. begining at the mouth of Chinkapin Branch thence runing up the Meanders of the Mill Creek to Richard Sowells Slash then up the said slash to a white oak in the head of it then along a line of marked trees to a Black Oak Chinkapin Branch then down Chinkapin Branch to the mouth of the first Station To Have and to Hold the said Plantation and Dividend of Land and all and singular the Rights Priviledges Commodities Profits advantages Hereditaments appertinances and appendants thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining unto him the said John Howcott his heirs and assigns forever in Fee simple absolutely to the only use and behoof of him and them forever in as full and ample manner to all Intents and Purposes as the most Learned in the Law can Devise Further I the said Williamson for myself my heirs Executors administrators Do Covenant and Engage to and with the said John Howcott his heirs and assigns forever to warrant and Defend the said Plantation and Dividends of Land free from all Encumbrances whatsoever accruing Quitrents Excepted unto him or any of them forever hereafter against all Claims whatsoever and Mary my wife in token of her Relinquishment of her Rights of Dowry and Power of thirds of in and unto the said Land and Premises unto him the said John Howcott His heirs and assigns forever with me the said William . . .
