Know ye that I Mary Hocot of Bertie County Widow for and in Consideration of the sum of Fifty Pounds Current money of Virginia to me in hand paid by William Hooker Junior of said County planter the Receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge and my self therewith fully Contented and Satisfyed Have bargained, Sold aliened Conveyed and Confirmed and by these presents Do fully freely clearly and absolutely Grant Bargain sell, allien, Enforce, Release and Convey Confirm, assign, Transfer and Set over unto him the said William Hooker Jr. his heirs and assigns forever a Certain Tract or Parcel of Land Situate Lying and being in Bertie County on the south West side of Chowan River . . . Below Mount Pleasant Plantation and next above Edward Hocots Land Containing by Estimation one hundred and fifty acres of land be the same more or Less. Butted and Bounded as follows (to Wit) Beginning at the River thence up a small Bottom to a White oak Edward Hocots line thence a line of Markt Trees Southardly to a hickory on a Branch William Beachums Corner, thence Beachums Line Westard to a pine James Hintons Line, thence Hintons line North of West to the head of Wild Catt Gutt Joseph Wynns line, thence Down the said Gutt its various courses to the said River thence Down the said River at low Water mark to the first Station. To have and to hold all the land within the said Bounds with all and singular the Rights, Priviledges, appurtnances and appendants, thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining unto him, the said William Hooker, Jr. his heirs and assigns forever free and clear and freely and clearly acquitted, Exonerated and Discharged of from all and all manner of former or other Gifts, grants, Bargains, Sales, Leases, Wills, Mortgages, Joyntures, Dower, Judgments, Extents, Execution and Incumbrances whatsoever; Further I the said Mary Hocot Do for myself my heirs executors, administrators and assigns forever, Do promise for Each and Either of us to warrant and Defend the peaceable possession of the said Land and premises at any time or times unto him the said William Hooker Jr. his heirs and assigns forever in Fee Simple asolutely from the lawful Claimand Demand of her the said Mary Hocot her heirs or assigns or any other person or persons whatsoever Claiming from by or under her them or any or either of them. In Witness whereof I the said Mary Hocott have hereunto Sett my hand and Seal this first Day of Novembe in the year of Our Lord One Thousand Seventeen and fifty two.
