Know Ye that I Mary Hocutt of Bertie County Widow for and in consideration of the Sum of forty Pounds current money of Virginia to me in hand paid by Edward Hocott of the same County Planter with which I acknowledge myself contented have and by these presents do fully freely clearly and absolutely give grant bargain sell allien enfrosse release convay confirm assign transfer and set over unto him the said Edward Hocutt his Heirs and assigns forever a certain devidend or parcell of Land situate lying and being in Bertie County aforesaid joyning on Chowan River and Woodardses Creek containing by estimation one hundred acres be the same more or less Butted and bounded as follows (viz) Begining at the mouth of Woodards Creek or otherwise called Mill Creek thence up the said Mill Creek its varyous courses to a large Branch called fiery bank Branch on the West side of the said Creek thence up the said Branch to a small prong or large bottom pointing towards the River, thence up the said Bottom to a Pine thence a line of marked trees to a white Oak on the head of a Bottom running out of the River thence the said Bottom to the River thence down the River to the first Station (____________) To have and to hold all the lands within the said Bounds bargained and sold as aforesaid all and singular the rights priviledges comodities hereditaments appurtances and appendants thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining unto him the said Edward Hocutt his heirs and assigns forever in fee simple absolutely in as full and ample manner to all intents and purposes as the most learned in the law can devise to Warrant and defend the said Land at any time or times free from all Incumberances whatsoever except accruing Quit rents. In Witness whereof I the said Mary Hocutt have hereunto set my hand and fixed my seal The twentyeth day of Agust in the Year of Our Lord one thousand seven hundred and fifty one.
