Sd (Said?)To all Christain (sic) People to whom these presents Shall come I Jane Howell of Bertie County in North Carolina and in the name of god Everlasting Send Greeting Know ye that I the Said Jane Howell widow for & in consideration of the Natural Love good will & affection I bear towards my grand Son John Glehan of the Same province and county aforsd the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge and for other good causes & considerations me hereunto moving Have given and granted aliened Enfeoffed & confirmed and by these presents do grant alien Enfeoff and confirm unto John Glahon at my death his heirs & assigns forever A plantation and tract of land containing three hundred & forty acres of Land lying on the west Side of Chowan river Beginning at a White oak at the river bank Capt. John Campbells Corner sd Tree thence West 320 Pole to a Black oak the corner tree as it is mentioned in the patent thence along the head line for Breath thence an east Course to the river thence along the river to the first Station to the use & behoof of him the Said John Glawhon his heirs & assigns for Ever together with all the rights priviledges and immunitys unto ye Same belonging or in any wise appertaining to Have and to Hold the Said Tract of Land the Said John Glawhon his heirs & assigns forever and I the Said Jane Howell Widow My heirs Exrs & adminrs Do covenant & promise & agree to & with the Sd John Glauhon his heirs Exrs & assigns by these presents that He the Sd John Glauhon his heirs Exrs & assigns shall & may peaceably have hold occupy & possess & Enjoy the Said Plantation and Tract of Land and all the rights previledges (sic) & Immunities forever without the least Suit trouble Eviction or molestation of or from the Sd Jane Howell widow her heirs or admrs of or from any person or persons claiming by or under us or them or any or either of them and I the Sd Jane Howell Widow do for myself my heirs Exrs & admrs further covenant & promise & agree to and with the Sd John Glauhon his heirs & assigns by these presents that I the Sd Jane Howell widow Shall and Will at all times for Ever hereafter at the Special Instance and request of him the Sd John Glauhon his heirs & assigns the Sd Plantation and tract of Land Warrant and Defend against all or any Person or Persons claiming any Right Sd Title or Interest thereunto or to any Part or Parsell (sic) thereof and will at all times hereafter do any Such further other Lawfull (sic) act or acts things or things for confirming and makeing Sure the Sd tract of Land and Plantation unto the Said John Glauhon his heirs & assigns forever as Shall be thought adviseable (sic) and necessary In Witness Whereof I have hereunto Set my hand and Seal Sd This Thirtyeth Day of January one her thousand Seven hundred & Seventy one Jane Howell Signed Sealed & Delivered in the mark presents of us John Sawhill James Fleetwood - Bertie County pt Decemr Court 1771 The within Deed proved in Due form of Law in open Court by the oath of James Fleetwood one of the Subscribing Witness and on motion ordered to be Registered Test John Johnston C.
