BERTIE COUNTY Deed John Howell to John Perry-1753 File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Zane Perry ZaneDPerry@hotmail.com Bertie County, North Carolina October 11, 1753 Deed Book H page 40 - 41 John Howell to John Perry Howell to Perry This Indenture made this eleventh day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & fifty three by and between John Howell of Bertie County in the Province of North Carolina Gent. of the one part & John Perry of the other part of the County & Province aforesd. Carper. Witnesseth that the aforesaid John Howell for & in consideration of the sum of Ten pounds ten shillings current money of the colony of Virginia to him in hand paid the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge himself thereunto fully satisfied contented & paid doth bargain sell and by these Presents doth fully freely clearly and absolutely give, grant, bargain, sell, alien, enscosse release convey confirm assign transfer & set over unto him the said John Perry his heirs & assigns forever all that Tract or Parcel of Land situate, lying, & being in Bertie County aforesaid Beginning on the East side of Chinkopin Swamp whereon Samuel Osstun lives, containing one hundred acres. Beginning at a Pine Edward Bryants corner thence East Eighty Eight Pole to a Pine thence north one hundred & ninety Pole to a Hickory, south seventy degrees West Eighty Eight Pole to the center of the Cypress & to Gums on Chinkopin Swamp thence over the said swamp to the first station. To have and to hold the aforesaid Tract or Parcell of land Bargained & sold aforesaid and all & singular the rights priviledges commodities Hereditaments appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining unto him the said John Perry his heirs & assigns forever in Fee Simple in as full a manner to all intents & purposes as the most learned in the Law can devise free from all incumbrancs whatsoever (Quit rents only excepted) which he the sd. Perry shall from the sale of these presents pay unto his Majesties Receiver Generall for the time being / not only against myself Heirs Executors Administrators but also against all other Persons whatsoever laying lawfull claim thereunto hereby for myself my Heirs Executors administrators covenanting & engaging so to warrant & defend the said Land premises and appertenances unto him the said John Perry his heirs & assigns forever.
