Much more in folder not copied by me. This Indenture, made the 26th Feby A. D. 1777 between Whitmel & Lewis Tuffdick, Wm Roberts, Wm Pugh, William Cain, Wine Oak, Charles & the Chiefs of the Tusharora Indians of the one part & John McKashey & Thomas Hunter of the other part, witnesseth: that the said Whitmel Tuffdick & others above named for themselves and the rest of the Nation for and in consideration of the yearly rents of eight pounds proclamation money, do let & farm & lease unto the said Thomas Hunter and John McKaskey their heirs & assigns a certain tract or parcel of land in Bertie aforesaid, beginning at Pugh Williams' & Jones' corner above Black Gut, running that line to Black Gut necks; then down the swamp oposite, against the head of Chocawink Gut to a corner Cypress; thence a direct course to the mouth of Chocowink Gut, then the various of Roanoke River to the mouth of Black Gut, & from thence to the first Station, which said land, we the said Whitmel Tuffdick & the above mentioned Tusharora Indians &c do warrant, secure & confirm unto the said Thomas Hunter & John McKashey, heirs & assigns during the term of time ninety nine years, the said Thomas Hunter & John McKashey for themselves their heirs & assigns, do covenant, promise & agree to & with the said Indians that they will pay truly & faithfully, cause to be paid to the said Tusharora Indians, the said yearly rents of the sum aforesaid. In witness whereof, the parties have hereunto set their hands & seals the day & year first above written.
