James sells his 1/6 to his brother, Thomas for $50. Note that when Thomas sold it to Luke Harrell, he made a profit....selling his 2/6 for $183.33 at that time. BERTIE COUNTY DEED (Note:JAMES RUFFIN SELLS TO THOMAS RUFFIN his share of Sister, Sallie's land.) This Indenture made this 13th day of January 1818 between JAMES RUFFIN of the county of JONES the State of GEORIGIA of the one part and THOMAS RUFFIN of the County of BERTIE and State of North Carolina of the other part witnesseth that the said JAMES RUFFIN for and in consideration of the sum of FIFTY dollars and to him in hand paid by the said THOMAS RUFFIN the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath granted bargained sold and conveyed and by these present do hereby grant bargain sell and convey unto the said THOMAS RUFFIN his heirs and assigns forever ONE SIXTH of an undivided tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in the county of Martin and state of North Carolina containing by estimation forty three acres (43) be the same more or less bounded as follows: Beginning in the center of four oaks post oak white oak andlive oaks, John HARRELL's corner then No 25 W 55 pole to the center of two pines and a gum thense S 63 107 pole to a pine on the S side of Concho Swamp thence down the said swamp S 100 ? 38 pole to a gum in said swamp thence S 36 Et 25 pole to a gum in said swamp thence No 63 E 125 pole to the first station The above described land fell to said JAMES RUFFIN by the death of sister, SARAH KING, and was willed to her, the said Sarah King by David King, her deceased husband to have and to hold the aforesaid land unto him the said THOMAS RUFFIN his heirs Exor adms and assigns foever and I the said JAMES RUFFIN for myself my heirs Exors & Adminstrators and assings do hereby warrent & defend the property and title of the above granted land unto him the said THOMAS RUFFIN his heirs Exor adms and assigns.
