Lakey et exor. to Perry No. Carolina This Indenture made this sixteenth day of April in the year of our Lord 1757, Between Richard Lakey and Mary his wife, of Bertie County, in the Province aforesaid of the one part, and John Perry Junr. of the County and Province afsd. Of the other part. Witnesseth that I the said Richard Lakey and Mary my wife for and in consideration of the sum of thirty nine pounds Prock. Money of this Province to us in hand paid by the said John Perry before the ensealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof we do hereby acknowledge and ourselves fully satisfied contented and paid and thereof and from every part and parcel doth hereby acquit, release, and forever discharge the said John Perry Junr. his heirs exors. admors. assigns and every of them forever by these presents hath granted bargained and sold aliened & confirmed and released and by these presents doth hereby grant bargain sell alien release and confirm unto the said John Perry Junr. his heirs all that piece or parcel of land formerly belonging unto Thomas Ryan dece’d and by him willed to his daughter Mary containing by estimation three hundred and twenty acres of land more or less lying in the said County of Bertie on the West side of Chowan river. Butted and bounded as follows (to wit) Beginning at the mouth of Herring Run on Chowan River thence up the run according to the course of the Patent one mile to the line formerly belonging to Thomas Yates dece’d bounding on the said line thence along the line of the sd. Thomas Yates to a corner tree of the land formerly belonging to Isaac Hill Junr. up the head line which land is now in possession of Mrs. Elizabeth Gould, thence down the line of the said Elizabeth Gould to Chowan River and thence along the Chowan River to the first station, to have and to hold the sd. piece or parcel of land with all the rights priviledges and appurtenances whatsoever thereunto belonging or any ways appertaining unto the sd. John Perry his heirs and assigns forever butted and bounded as is before mentioned and expressed paying the usual and customary quitrents for the same, and the said Richard Lakey and Mary his wife doth as far as in them here warrant the said land unto the said John Perry Junr., his heirs and assigns against the heirs and assigns of him the said Richard Lakey and Mary his wife & all manner of persons whatsoever. In witness whereof, he the said Richard Lakey and Mary his wife hath hereunto set their hands & seals the day & year first above written.
