KING of the State of County aforesaid have bargained and sold and delivered unto JOHN H. KING one Negroe man named DEMSEY, both delivered and confirmed unto the said JOHN H. KING all my right, title, claim and interest in and to the said Negroe man, I, the said SAMUEL LUTEN my heirs and assigns do warrant and for ever defend the right of title of the said negroe man DEMSEY unto the said JOHN H. OUTLAW NOTE: This slave sale from Samuel Luten to John H. King is the one proof of connecting this line of Lutens to Major Thomas Luten in Chowan Co 1682. Major Lutens son, Thomas Luten, Jr. willed to his grandson Samuel a slave named Demsey and this is when he sells him.
