All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Dmargaretha@aol.com Dora http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/bertie.htm Book T Page 61 no. 7 SAMUEL LUTON _ JAMES WARD This indenture made this first day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand and eight hundred and four, between SAMUEL LUTON of Bertie County in the State of North Carolina of the one part and JAMES WARD of the County and State of the……….of the other part, witnesseth that the said SAMUEL LUTON for and in consideration of four hundred and twenty five pounds current money of this state to me in hand paid by JAMES WARD the receipt whereof I doth acknowledge myself satisfied and contended hath bargained and sold the lien conveyed, confirmed and by these presents doth grant bargain, sell, alien convey and confirm unto him the said JAMES WARD his heirs and assigns forever one-------------track or parcel of land situated (?) lying and being in Bertie County and being the plantation where the said LUTON now lives, butted and bounded as follows (to wit) beginning at the main run of Quioscquison (Quotoccoson) Swamp there running a straight course to Quiscquison (Quotoccoson) Road to WILLIAM OUTLAW line--------and along the said-------line to DAVID ASHEW line, thence along said ASHEW line to JAMES WARD line, thence along said WARD line to Spivey Dam branch called the Mile Creek, thence down the main run of the said Branch to a little pine and murtle marked a corner, thence South East along a line of marked trees to a pine a corner, thence Southwest along a line of marked trees to a pine a corner, thence northwest along a line of marked trees to a gum at the main run of the mill Branch, thence down the main run of the said Branch to the main run of Quiocquison (Quotoccoson) Swamp thence down the main run of the said to the first station, containing by estimate two hundred and fifty acres to the same more or less to have---------the above bargained premises with all houses whose possessions and appendutures therein belonging or any ways appertaining unto him the said JAMES WARD his heirs assigns forever in free simple absolutely in as full and ample a manner to all intent purposes as the most learned inlaw can devise, furthermore, I the said SAMUEL LUTON at the unsealing do as such myself the only true and lawful owner of the above bargained land primesses (?) of every part and parcel thereof and the same will so warrant and forever defend by these presents unto him the said, JAMES WARD and his heirs and assigns forever free from all incumbrances as well against myself and my heirs all and every other person or persons whatsoever laying any just right or claim there unto--------whereof I the said SAMUEL LUTEN hath hereunto set my hand and seal the day and date above written.
