(patent granted 1 Feb. 1725). Jackson with consent of J. Brown’s wife, Mary. South side of Merattuck River at a small ash standing on river bank then along course of marked trees to a hickory, a line divides land of Joseph Joyner then along a course of marked trees to another marked hickory standing on the Cypress Gut on boundaries of land of William Strickland to a hickory standing on river bank at mouth of Spring Branch then up river to 1st station. 6 Oct. 1726, B, 321, 17 William Frost to Richard Pace, Jr. 50 acres (part of a patent granted to David Cummings for 340 acres on 1 March 1726) beginning at 2 white oaks on a branch dividing land sold out of 340 acre patent to Alexander Bane over main branch along a course of marked trees to a hickory dividing Alex. Bane and William Frost to include the 50 acres. 29 July 1727, C, 17, 4 Joseph Lane to William Baldwin Julian Lane also signed deed 213 acres (patent granted to Joseph Lane on 1 Feb. 1725) bounded as follows: white oak on corner tree of Benjamin Thomas then up to a line of marked trees to a small white oak corner tree of side of branch out of swamp of “little swamp” down line of marked trees to a hickory, down a line of marked trees to main rim of the “little swamp” then up rim to 1st station. Memorandum to deed dated 29 July 1727, Joseph Lane made delivery of lands and premises by delivery of ? and twigg of the land to William Baldwin. 1727, B, 366, 18 Robert Jones and son, William to Barnabe Mackinne 470 acres (land patent granted to John Hawthorne of Surry, Va., dated 26 Feb. 1711/12) on north side of the Morattuck River beginning at mouth of Cypress Swamp on River Pecosin running along river SW to mouth of 2nd Cypress Swamp then by various courses along swamp to a red oak then SE to a gum standing in 1st cypress swamp to the 1st station. John Hawthorne willed that money from sale of land is for use of his children; which land was bought by Robert Jones, deed dated 7 Sept. 1724. Robert Jones gave some of the land by gift to his children Robert and Matthew, deceased. Land back to Robert Jones and William Jones, eldest son who then sell to Barnabe Mackinne. 7 Aug. 1727, B, 294, 108 William Lowe to George Pace 125 acres (part of patent granted to William Lowe for 250 acres on 4 Aug. 1723) on east side of Elk Marsh and south side of Merrattock River beginning at white oak in the lower corner tree on Elk Marsh, south to white oak, then NE to pole at dividing line, then NW to pole then meandering Elk Marsh to 1st station. 3 March 1728, C, 91, 84 James Milikin and Henry Gustin to Barnabe Mackinne 150 acres (formerly, patent granted to William Brown for 640 acres dated 1 April 1713 named Walnut Hoste survey). Southside of the Morattock River beginning at Joseph Joyner’s corner tree to William Brown’s line of second survey then to Brown’s corner and to Brown’s head line then to 1st station. 13 May 1729, C, 91, 85 James Milikin and Henry Gustis to John McKinne P. of atty Millikin and Gustis authorize a trusty friend John McKinne as attorney for them to acknowledge deed of sale or conveyance of 150 acres south of the Morrattock River on “3rd day of this instant” to B. Mackinne, gent. or his heirs, as if same were done by Milliken and Gustis on 5 March 1728(9). 10 May 1728, B, 423, 39 Bartholomew Chavers to Barnabe Mackinne 100 acres (part of patent granted to John Green for 640 acres on north side of Morattock River which 100 acres was sold by John Green to Bartholomew Chavers) beginning at William Jones’ a hickory corner tree on north side of Morrattock on riverbank to Jones’ line to Yeorah Swamp down to a pine tree then to marked trees on Morratock River then up river to hickory. 14 May 1728, B, 424, 40 John Green to Richard Pace 200 acres (part of patent granted to John Green for 640 acres on northside of Morattock River on 100 acres land sold to Bartholomew Chavers and 200 acres of the patent sold to Ralph Mason; patent dated 1 March 1719) 11 May 1728, B, 399, 15 Joseph Lane, Jr. and Patience Lane to Samuel Swearingen 330 acres which Lane originally bought from Joseph Simms on the south side of the Morattuck River and south side of the Conno Connomoro Swamp beginning at a hickory at String Meadow, in Reedy Pecoson to Goodens Corner. Patience (Mackinne) Lane signs for her right of dower. 11 May 1728, B, 400, 16 Patience Lane, power of atty. to Matthew Raiford Patience gives Matthew Raiford right to act as her attorney in sale of 330 acres of land to Joseph Simms. Aug. Court 1728, C, 16, 3 John Holley to Barnabe Mackinne 50 acres (formerly granted to William Brown for 640 acres by patent on 1 April 1712 who then sold to Nathaniel Holley, then descended to John, the 50 acres being all that remains of the 640 acres unsold between Nathaniel Holley and Barnabe Mackinne and Richard Jackson by several deeds. Land on the south side of the Morattock River, upper parish of Bertie Precinct. 6 Aug. 1728, C, 11, 79 Emporor Wheeler to Barnabe Mackinne 100 acres (formerly granted to William Brasell, 640 acres by patent of 4 March 1711/12. Bracewell sold to Wheeler who willed to Emporor Wheeler. Lying on the northside of the Morrattuck River beginning at rim of Oeconnechee Swamp at white oak, a corner tree of John Hathornes land then along line to 6 cuts to a white oak and 2 gums, then to Hathornes line by a line of marked trees north to a hickory tree then a course to the pecan tree swamp to 1st station. 10 Aug. 1728, C, 12, 80 Barnabe Mackinne, Jr. to William Strickland 100 acres (patent granted to William Brown for 140 acres dated 1 April 1713, by him to John Brown who sold to Arthur Davis and A. Davis to Barnabe Mackinne, Sr., then to B. Mackinne, Jr.) South side of the Morrattock River beginning at the causeway at the Cypress Gutt to the Great Ditch then down the Cypress Gutt to mouth of small cut joining into Cypress Gutt near Mr. Warren’s old path then up cut and road from causeway. 13 May 1729, C, 95, 90/96 ohn Green and Ralph R. Mason to Richard Pace, Sr. 290 acres (part of a parcel to John Green of 640 acres granted 29 July 1712) beginning at a maple dividing patent of Bartholomew Chavers out from river to a pine in Yawenoke Swamp, down Swamp to courses of patent of B. Chavers, Ralph Mason and John Green. Aug. Court 1729, C, 142, 16 Barnabe Mackinne, Jr. to John Burch 100 acres (formerly granted by patent dated 5 April 1720 to William Jones and lapsed by him for want of due seating (seeding?) and planting and since granted to William Pope by the relapse patent dated 1 April 1723 and by William Pope to Barnabe Mackinne). On south side of Morattuck River adjoining the Tuckahoe Marsh, bounded by a white oak standing by main branch of Tuckahoe mash, running north then east to another white oak then NW to a hickory in branch of Tuckahoe mash then SW to hickory in main branch to 1st station. 11 Aug. 1729, C, 122, 20 John Green to Richard Pace 440 acres on north side of Moratuck River beginning at a gum on east side of a little river that flows out of Wheelers Mill Swamp and includes bounds of patent for 440 acres dated 1 March 1719. 5 Sept. 1729, C, 314, 1 Barnabe Mackinne, Jr. to Edward Simons 400 acre tract of land lying south side of Morattock on SE of Cona conara Swamp, 350 acres of which said 400 acres was granted to Arthur Davis for by patent dated 5 Aug. 1720, the 350 bounded as follows: beginning at a white oak running SE to a red oak then NE to middle of 4 red oaks then NW to an ash in Conneconary Swamp to 1st station, 1 Aug. 1722 and the other 50 acres sold to William Murphons for 530 acres by patent on 5 April 1720. The 50 acres bounded as follows beginning at Arthur Davis’ lower corner of Cona cenary Swamp a corner tree of 350 acres. 1730 (day & mo. illegible), C, 269, 61 Barnabe Mackinne to William Rushin 150 acre parcel of land on north side of Morattock River (plantation where Matthew Rushion, father of William, formerly lived). Beginning at a sweet gum on edge of low grounds, John Houstens running by ? swamp to a white oak standing in a pond, up pond by line of marked trees to a white ash near the plantation where Henry Wheeler lived, then by other line marked trees to a great pine on edge of Mill Pond Swamp and to low grounds to the beginning. 28 Mar. 1730, C, 319, 6 Jacob Brown to Barnabe Mackinne 100 acres (certain tract of land owned by Jacob’s father, William Brown, which land since father’s decease, for want of a patent, both having been surveyed for Jacob’s eldest brother John Brown and son of his father William Brown, deceased, which patent has become due to John Brown in patent dated 13 Mar. 1721 containing 525 acres on south side of Morrattock River) the 100 acres are Jacob’s part of patent to William, beginning at the great ditch at fork of Cypress Gut running along great ditch to where line crosses the ditch then along that line to the corner 2 hickories and a red oak sapling, then W to a hickory on corner tree between purchase and land belonging to John Brown, W unto line made for Richard Jackson by John Brown, now owned by Barnabe Mackinne by Jackson’s and Strickland’s, which is Mackinne’s 1st station. Signed Barnabe Mackinne and Mary M. Mackine 27 Sept. 1730, C, 304, 99 ohn Brown to Barnabe Mackinne 640 acres (patent formerly granted to William Brown on 1 April 1713). South side of Morrattock River joined with surveyed land of John Lewis and land of Coll. William Maul. 9 Nov. 1730, C, 316, 4 Barnabe Mackinne to Abraham Macklemarr 625 acres on the north side of Moratock River in NW Bertie Precinct beginning at red oak at old pond running north to a red oak then south to Moratock River then to 1st station. (The ink on this deed is quite faded and is therefore very hard to read, it looks like the original patent was for 1725 acres.) 9 Nov. 1730, C, 308, 104 (PLN file note: see page attached to next deed, Mackinne to Boseman) John Mackinne to John & Mary Brown 200 acres (part of patent of 550 acres on south side of Morattock River granted on 1 May 1730), given for the love John Mackinne bears his cousin William Brown, the son of John & Mary Brown, beginning at a pine, a corner tree of Philip Rayford up his line and line of marked trees to Robert Forsters, along his line to William Stephen’s branch to the first station. 100 acres given for the love John Mackinne bears his cousin Mary Brown, sister of William, which is part of same 550 acre patent, beginning at William Brown’s line, running by Phillip Rayfords and on the other side, Robert Forsters line.. 18 Nov. 1730, C, 307, 103 Barnabee Mackinne to Henry Boseman 296 acres on south side of Morrattuck and on south side of Great Guanka Creek. Land was formerly surveyed for Steven Dunmaden upon the decease of whom escheates to the Lords Proprietors then granted to Barnabe Mackinne by escheate patent dated 15 May 1730 and is the plantation where Henry Boseman lives. 13 May 1734, D, 67 Richard Pace, Jr. to James Cain 100 acres (part of land granted to Bartholomew Chaven for 300 acres on 1 March 1719). Beginning at a pine standing at Yawmahaw Swamp, running up swamp to red oak a line tree, then along a course of marked trees to center of 3 white oaks. 6 Jan. 1735, D, 282 Barnabe Mackinne to William Pace I interpret this deed to read that 540 acres was purchased by Barnabee Mackinne as a relapse deed on 30 July 1726 which he subsequently sold to Bartholomew Chavers who lost the land because he didn’t clear it as the law requires. When B. Mackinne took the land back he subsequently sold it to William Pace. 7 March 1734 (May Ct. 1735), D, 203 Alexander Bean to Richard Pace 190 acres (part of a patent granted to David Commings of 340 acres on 1 March 1719, the 190 acres then sold to Alexander Bean). Bounded by a red oak in the patent line running along line over main branch to a pine tree in John Green’s line and concluding the 190 acres same tract of land where John Brown, Alis Dickum forty foot (?) now dwells. 14 May 1735, D, 205 Richard Pace, Jr. to Richard Pace, Sr. 40 acres (part of a patent to John Green for 440 acres on 1 May 1719). Beginning a white oak in lower lines of patent in fork of Littles Runn, running with line to marked trees between 2 branches to red oak and along a line of marked trees and easterly over branch to white oak in side line of patent and along line to hickory, then lower line of patent. 1736, E, 23 Richard Pace, Jr. to William Nichols 150 acres beginning at Alexander Bane’s corner tree, running along his line to patent line, then running several courses of patent and bounded to 1st station. (2 Plantations, devidends or tracts of land on northside of the Maratuck River [part of 340 acres granted to David Cuming on 1 March 1719 of which 190 acres of tract was bought by Alex. Bane, remaining part to R. (The Yawmehoke Swamp is the bonds between Richard Pace, Sr. and Barnabe Mackinne. 13 Feb. 1737, E, 200 Richard Pace to Edward Earp 250 acres on the northside of Mooratock River beginning at a gum on the northside of the river, Col. Pollock’s corner, then SE to center of 3 oaks, Samuel Peet’s corner along line of marked trees to a marked white oak that stands on slash, to Pace’s line and John Green’s, courses along that line of Green’s and Pace’s, SW to gum, Green and Pace’s corner, then meandering the river to the 1st station which is part of the patent to Richard Pace of 500 acres dated 28 July 1720. 13 Feb. 1737, E, 212 Richard Pace to Samuel Peete 250 acres on the north side of the Moratook River beginning at the center of 3 oaks standing in the dividing line of Pace and Cole Pollock’s, SE along line to center of 2 black oaks and a hickory to the corner of Pace’s patent then another line of Pace’s , E to a pine on northside of Yarahaw Swamp, then NW to an ash, John Green’s corner, then W to a marked white oak near a slash, line that crosses along a line to marked trees to the 1st station part of parcel to Richard Pace’s patent of 500 acres on 28 July 1720. 9 Feb. 1739, F, 51 Barnabe Mackinne to William Bayle 100 acre parcel of land beginning at Mauls upper line called Swan Pon Survey running up his line to the corner then courses of patent to a deep valley then down valley or cut to the river to include 100 acres of land granted to Mackinne in patent of 30 July 1726. 28 Jan. 1739, F, 120 Banrabe Mackinne to Thomas Howell 100 acres (part of a tract of 640 acres patent granted to John Green on 29 July 1712.
