Sarah Mitchell to George Cowand


This Indenture made this 11th day of September in the year of our Lord
Eighteen hundred four Between Sarah Mitchell, Executrix of her deasd
husband John Mitchell of the one part and George Cowand of the other
part, both of the State of North Carolina and County of Bertie, Witnesseth
that the said Sarah Mitchell for and in consideration of the sum of one
hundred pounds to her in hand paid by the said George Cowand, Hath
Given granted bargained and sold unto the said George Cowand his
heirs & assigns forever, one certain tract piece or parcel of Land situate
lying & being insd County Bounded as follows (to wit) Beginning at a pine
on the northside of Red bud Branch Daniel Wynns corner, thence South
126 pole to a pine Jacob Whites corner, Thence East 130 pole to a post
Jesse Whites corner, thence along his line to said red bud Branch, thence
along the northside or edge of said branch to the first station.  Containing
by Estimation ninety-two acres be the same more or less.  To have and to
hold unto him the said George Cowand his heirs and assigns forever
all the above bargained premises free & clear of all manner of
encumbrances whatsoever, and I the said Sarah Mitchell will (+)arrunt
secure and forever defend all the above bargained premises unto him
the said George and his heirs forever, In witness whereof she the said
Sarah Mitchell hath set her hand and Seal the day and year above
written.
