MOORE TO JOHN BOND This indenture made this the fifteenth day of October in the year of One Thousand Eight Hundred and Twenty Two between Charles Moore of the first part and John Bond of the second part both of the state of North Carolina and Bertie County, Witnepeth that the said party of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of one dollar to him in hand paid by him the said party of the second part the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledge by him the said party of the first part hath given, granted, bargained, sold, aliend and released and doth by these presents give, grant, bargain, sell, alien and release unto him the said party of the second part two certain tracts or parcels of land lying and being in the county aforesaid buffed and bounded as follows, that is to say, the one tract beginning as a gum on the road on the main run of Roquist Swamp thence north fifty one degrees west, one hundred and twelve poles to a white oak David Stones corner thence along said Stones line to a white oak his other corner at the ____ road; thence along a line of marked trees to Joseph Moore's corner in said Stones line thence south four degrees west one hundred and twenty two poles binding on Joseph Moore to an ash in Bob's branch; thence down the main run of Bob's Branch the various counted to the main run of Rocquist Swamp; thence up the main run of Rocquist Swamp to the firsst station, containing by estimation sixty acres be the same more of lef and the other tract, beginning at a small ash, a corner tree in John Bond's line in Bob's Branch thence up said branch to an elm in said branch; thence up said branch and round Pocoson north thirty four degrees west thirty ___ poles thence N nineteen and a half degrees west, sixteen holes, thence north twelve degrees west sixteen poles; thence north eight degrees east, twenty seven poles thence north eighteen an a half degrees west, fourteen poles; thence north fifty 3 degrees west, twelve poles; thence north forty seven degrees west, twenty two and a half poles, thence north forty one degrees west forty poles to a holley; thence north sixty three degrees west fifty poles to a white oak, Stone's, Pugh's and Gillam's corner; thence along Stones line north seventy four degrees, east thirty poles to a white oak stump in the said line, thence south fifty nine degrees, east to John Bonds line thence along his line and a south course to the first station containing eight six acres be the same more of lefs. NOTE from Lou Craig: This land is between Moses Gillam's land (now George L Madre's land on the Lewiston Hwy) and David Stone's land (now the Hope House Historical property). There is a White Oak Hunting Club that is in this approximate location which probably received their name from the "White Oak" that the deed is referencing.
