All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Lynn McCarthy lcmcmw5761@aol.com April 9, 2015, 9:26 am Written: 1770 Deed Book L, Pages 281-282* Written: 12 November 1770 Deed from Ralph Outlaw and David Outlaw to Alexander How and Humphry Hardy, Church Wardens for Society Parish North Carolina Bertie County This Indenture made This Twelfth Day of november in the year of our Lord one thousand Seven Hundred and Seventy and in the tenth year of the Reign of his present majesty King George the Third between Ralph Outlaw & David Outlaw of the one part and Alexander How & Humphry Hardy Church Wardens for Society Parish and their successors of the other part Witnesseth That the Sd Ralph & David Outlaw for & in consideration of the Sum of fifteen Shillings to them in hand paid by the sd Alexandr How and Humphrey Hardy the receipt whereof they do hereby acknowledge hath given granted Bargained Sold aliened Enfeoffed conveyed confirmed assigned Trasferred and Set over and by these presents Do freely fully & absolutely give grant Bargain Sell alien Enfeoff Convey & Confirm assign trasfer & Set over unto them the Said Alexander How and Humphry Hardy Church Wardens as aforesd and their Successors for the time being one certain acre of Land Situate lying & being in Society Parish and in the County & Province aforesd begining at a lightwood Stump on the Plantation of the Sd Ralph & David Outlaw and Runing along a line of marked trees to gum a corner trees on Wildcat branch and thence Down the Sd Branch to the County road thence along Sd road to a lightwood post & from thence to the first Station - To Have and to Hold the Sd granted & Bargained premises with all & Singular the appurtenances Previledges & commodities to the Same belonging or in any wise appertaining unto them the Sd Alexander How & Humphrey Hardy Church wardens as aforesaid & their Successors for the time being forever and for the whole & Sole use of the aforesd Society Parish forever and the Sd Ralph & David Outlaw for themselves their heirs Executrs and administrators Do covenant promise & grant to & with the Sd Alexander How and Humphrey Hardy Church Wardens as aforesaid and their Successors for the time Being That they are the true Sole & lawfull owners of the above devised premises and and lawfully Seized and possesed of the Same in absolute Estate of inheritance In fee Simple and have good right full power and Lawfull authority to Sell & dispose of the Same in manner aforesaid and that the Sd Alexander How & Humphrey Hardy Church Wardens as aforesaid & their Successors for the time being and for the whole & Sole use of Sd Society Parrish Shall and may from time to time & at all times forever hereafter lawfully peaceably & peaceably & Quietly have Sold use possess & Enjoy the above Sd one acre of Land.
