L, p. 280-281 North Carolina Bertie County Know all men by these presents the I, Thomas PERRY of Bertie County in the Province of North Carolina, Planter for and In Consideration of the Sum of Forty pounds, Proclamation money to me in hand paid by Caleb HOOTEN of the County & province aforesaid planter, the receipt of which I hereby acknowledge have Bargained & Sold & by these presents do fully freely clearly and absolutely Give, Grant, Bargain, Sell aline, Enfeoff, Release convey confirm assign & sell over unto the sd. Caleb HOOTEN his heirs & assigns forever all that part of a tract of Land situate lying & being in Bertie County aforesaid. which Land contains by Estimation fifty acres Bounded (to wit) Beginning at a poplar at the head of the Spring Branch then running down the sd. Branch to a corner tree on MYARS line then running a South west course Bounded on MYEARS line to a hickory a corner tree then North west course Bounded on John DAVIDSONS line whereon William SHAW now lives to a corner tree then Bounded on William ASHLEY’S line and from thence to the first Station. To Have and to Hold the aforesd parcel or tract to fLand and all and Singular the Rights Privileges Commodities Heredity appurtenances & appendants thereunto belonging or in any ways appurtenances with him the sd. Caleb HOOTEN his Heirs & Assigns forever so to his & their only sale use benefit & — forever in as full & ——? manner to all Hereunto and purposes as the most learned in the law can Devise against the Lawful claims of all or an other person or persons Whatsoever I hereby promise to Warrant Secure maintain & Defend The said Tract or parcel of land & premised unto him the sd. Caleb HOOTEN his Heirs and Assigns for Ever In Witness whereof I the sd.
