POTHRESS and wife Sarah to Matthew TURNER 100ac To all people to whom these presents shall come, Greeting, &c. Know ye that I William POYTHRESS of North Carolina with in the county of Bertie for and in consideration of the sum of twenty one pounds ten shillings to me in hand paid before the ensealing hereof will and truly paid by Matthew TURNER of the said county the receipts whereof I do hereby acknowledge and myself therewith fully satisfied and contented and itureof and ? discharge the said Matthew TURNER his heirs exors. and admors. forever, by these presents have given granted bargained sold aliened conveyed and confirmed and by these presents do freely fully and absolutely give grant bargain sell alien convey and confirm unto him the said Matthew TURNER his heirs or assigns forever one messuage or tract of land and plantation scituate lying and being in Bertie County containing one hundred acres of land butted and bounded, Beginning a a pine in GRISTOCK's line thence along GRISTOCKS line over JUMPING RUN in the fork to a corner tree thence running the course of the granted land, a line of marked treet to a corner pine in John HARRELL's line thence partly along and the corner of the grant to the first station it being out of a deed of grant, granted to Thomas PAGE the said died bearing date 1753. To have and to hold the said granted and bargained premises with all the appurturances privileges and ? to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining to him the said Matthew TURNER his heirs and assigns forever. To his and their only proper use, and behoof forever, and I the said William POYTHRESS for us my heirs exors, and admiors, do convenant promise and grant to and with the said Matthew TURNER his heirs and assigns that before the ensealing hereof I am the tru sold and lawful owner of the above bargained premises and am lawfully seized and possessed of the same in mine own proper right as a good perfect and absolute estate of inheritance in fee simple and have in myself good right full power and lawful authority to grant bargain sell convey and confirm the said bargained premises in manner as abovesaid and that the said Matthew TURNER his heirs and assigns shall and may from time to time and at all times forever, Hereafter by force and virtue of these presents lawfully peaceable and quietly have hold use occupy possess and enjoy the said ? and bargained premised with appurteances free and clear and freely and clearly acquitted exonerated and discharged of from all and all manner of former or other gifts grants bargains sales leases mortgages wills entails joytures? dowers judgments executions encumbrances- Furthermore I the said William POYTHRESS for myself my heirs exeors, and admors do covenant and engage the above devised premises to him the said Matthew TURNER his heirs and assigns against the lawful claims or demands of any person or persons whatsoever hereafter to ? secure and defend, and Sarah POYTHRESS the wife of William POYTHRESS doth by these presents freely willingly give yield up and surrender all her right of dower, and power of thirds of in and unto the above devised premises unto him the said Matthew TURNER, his heirs and assigns. In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 21st day of October Ann Domini 1756.
