All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Lynn McCarthy lcmcmw5761@aol.com November 2, 2013, 2:46 pm Written: 1859 Bertie County, North Carolina Deed Book VV Pages 218 & 219 *David Rice to Robt R Tayloe Deed This Indenture made the 26th of January 1859 Between David Rice of the one part and Robt R Tayloe of the other part all of the County of Bertie and State of North Carolina _ Witnesseth, the said David Rice for an in consideration of the sum of one hundred dollars to me in hand paid by Robt R Tayloe has bargain and by these presents doth grant, bargain, sell and deliver to the said Robt R Tayloe his heirs and assigns forever a certain piece or parcel of land situated in the County and State aforesaid containing Twenty five acres more or less situated on north side Gueshall Swamp Beginning at a sweet gum near the main run at the Beverdam thence running a straight line to the road at the ditch that crosses the road at the corner at the fence to a Sweet Gum thence down the road to said Tayloe line that he said Tayloe purchased of Lawrence O Myers thence along said Tayloe's line to said swamp thence up the main run of said Swamp to the first station with all and every appurtenance thereunto belonging and I do hereby covenant to and with the said Tayloe that I have before the execution of this deed full rite and absolute authority to sell said land and agree hereby to warrant and forever defend the right and title of the same to him the said Robert R Tayloe his heirs and assigns forever. In witness I have hereunto set my hand and seal this the day and year above writen. David (his X mark) Rice Signed sealed and delivered in presence of Jacob Pruden Henry Tayloe State of North Carolina Bertie County In Probate Court, April 17th 1880 The execution of this Deed was this day duly proved before me by the oath of Henry Tayloe one of the subscribing withnesses thereto. And it is hereby ordered to be registered Wm. P. Gurley Probate Judge Received April 19th 1880 at 11 a.m. Registered April 23rd 1880 Chas F.
