*James Rice to David Turner Bill of Sale

Know all men by these presents that I James Rice of the County
of Bertie and State of North Carolina for and in Consideration of
the Sum of one hundred pounds current money to me in hand paid
by David Turner of the County and State aforesaid the Receipt 
whereof I do Hereby Acknowledge have bargained and sold, and
by these presents do bargain and Sell and deliver unto him the Said
David Turner his heirs and assigns forever one certain Negro woman
Slave names Ester, and do by these presents for myself my heirs
assigns & promise and oblige myself my heirs & forever warrant and
defend the title of the Said Negro Slave unto the Said David Turner
his heirs and assigns forever against the lawfull claim or Claims of
any person or persons, whatsoever, Inwitness whereof I have
hereunto Set my hand and Seal the 31st day of May, in the year of
our Lord one Thousand Seven Hundred and Ninety Seven
