Be it known that I, Starkey Ruffin, for and in
consideration of the sum of seven hundred ($700) dollars
to me in hand paid by Catherine Ruffin, the receipt and
payment whereof is hereby acknowledged have bargained and
sold, conveyed and confirmed and by these present do
bargain, sell, convey and confirm unto her the said
Cathering Ruffin her heirs and assings a certain piece,
parcel or tract of land lying and being in the State and
County aforesaid

On the south side of Cashie Swamp adjoining the lands of
Thomas page, Wm Hodges, Martha Jenkins, Wm Frames hiers
and others.  Being the land which I purchased of Iredell
S. Jordan.  Supposed to contain three hundredd and sixty
(360) acres being the same more or less.

To have and to hold the above bounded premises with all
ways, woods, waters and every other appurtenance there to
belonging or in any way appertaining and I do for myself,
my heirs, Exec and Adm warrant and defedn the right and
title of said land unto her the said Catherine Ruffin,
her heirs and assigns forever free and clear of the
lawful clause of all each and every other person or
persons whatever. Mrs. Jordan's life estate only
excepted.

Witness my hand and seal this 8th day of March 1847.

This deed from Starkey Ruffin to Catharine Ruffin was
proved in open court by the oath of H.H. Hardy one of the
subscribing witnesses thereto and ordered to be
