And that after due and legal notice given by advertisement did expose said negro to sale and that John Ruffin at the day of the sale, amongst a number of others did appear and bid the sum of one hundred and eighty pounds which was the highest bid that was offered for said Negro. Now I the said, James Cherry, deputy sheriff, as aforesaid, do bind my hand and do warrant and defend the title of said Negro against the claim or claims of any person or persons whatever as far as the act of assembly permits me to do and no further, given under my hand and seal the 9th February 1808.
