[Deed Book G. Pages 228-229] John Spring moved to Hyde Co., NC and is found on a 1786 Tax List on the Hyde Co. website. "North Carolina} Bertie County } Know all men by these presents that I, JOHN SPRING, of Hide [Hyde] County, Planter, for and in consideration of the sum of Ten Pounds Proclamation money to me in hand paid, before the Ensealing and Delivery hereof, by THOMAS HOLDER, of Bertie County and Province aforsaid, Planter, do give grant bargain, sell, alien, convey and confirm and by these presents, have given granted bargained sold aliened convey'd and confirmed unto him the said THOMAS HOLDER his heirs and assigns forever, One certain tract of land containing one hundred acres more of less, scituate, lying and being in the County and Province aforsaid on the N. East side of Cashy Swamp Butted and Bounded as follows, viz. Beginning at a marked gum in the mouth of Watering Hole Branch, Running up the said Branch to the head line, and along the Head Line to WILLIAM LEVINOR's line, along LEVINORs line to Cashy Swamp, thence to the first station, To have and to hold the abovesaid granted and bargained premises with all the appurtenances Privilidges and Comodities to the same Belonging or in any wise appertaining to him the said THOMAS HOLDER his heirs and assignes forever to him and their only Proper use, Benefit and Behoof forever, and further I the said JOHN SPRING do Covenant Promise and grant to and with the said THOMAS HOLDER his heirs and assigns forever that before the Ensealing and Delivery hereof I am the true sole and lawfull owner of the above Bargained premisses and am lawfully seized and posessed of the same in my own Proper good right and absolute Estate of Inheritance in Fee Simple and further I the said JOHN SPRING do Bind myself my heirs Executors & administrators to Warrant and Defend the abovesaid sale and premisses to him the said THOMAS HOLDER his heirs and assigns forever against the lawfull claims or demands of any person or persons Whatsoever free and clear and freely and clearly from all manner of incumbrances of what kind or nature soever his Majesty's and the Earle of Granville's Quitrents and arrears only Excepted. In Witness whereof I have set my hand and affixed my seal this 12th day of May in the year of Our Lord 1759.
