            Bertie County}

Know all men by this Presents That I Elisha Todd of the
County and state of aforesaid do by this Presents bargain
& sell unto Geo Cowand of the same County and state one
hoss bay mule & Cart & Wheels and all my House Hould and
Kitchen furniture and nine Hogs & one Cow the Title of
the said Property I warrant & defend unto the said Geo
Cowand his heirs adms & assigns for ever


The Condition of the above obligation is such that
Whereas the said Elisha Todd is justly in debted to the
said Geo Cowand in the sum of Thirty one 75/100 Dollars
one note due 13th March 1858 ditto one for five Dollars
intrust on the same a bught nine years and account of a
bught five Dollars as there fore if the said Elisha Todd
shall & will and Truly Pay of all said Claims and Cash
this the Obligation is to be void other wise to remain in
full force and affect in Witness Where of I have unto to
set my hand and seal this the 10 Nov 1860

Bertie County Court November Term 1860 This mortgage from
Elisha Todd to George Cowand was acknowledged in open
Court by the said Elisha Todd and George Cowand and
