A Daniel Mackdaniel also in 1717 received a Chowan grant, 3-40, on Beaverdam Swamp, SE of Aulander. This could be the son of the first Daniel. We believe that a daughter of first Daniel Mackdaniel, Ann Mackdaniel, married a John Anderson who had a plantation South of Urahaw Swamp on Bridges Creek. John is first witness, signed as Jurat or Jurist, on Daniel Mackdaniel's 1733 will. John is believed to be the son of a James Anderson who had a plantation E NE of Urahaw Swamp on Occoneechee Neck, North of the Roanoke River. Ann Mackdaniel Anderson Martin Anderson becomes a matriarch. Ann gained political influence through subsequent marriages to an Attorney George Martin and Judge Joseph Anderson who was also the King's Attorney for the Colony. We believe she was responsible for obtaining large land grants for her Anderson children and grandchildren as well as her Mackdaniel brothers on the Cape Fear River, South of the Grandville line.
