Witnesseth that the said Jesse Hodges for and in consideration of the sum of three hundred and fifty dollars ($350) to him in hand paid by the said Richard Veal the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath granted , bargained and sold and by these present doth grant bargain and sale unto the said Richard Veale, his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land Situage, lying and bing in the County of Bertie aforesaid adjoining the lands of said Jesse Hodges, containing by estimation, seventy five acres be the same more or less and bounded as follows: Beginning at the center of three gums in the fork of a branch in Jesse Hodges line called Jumping Run, thence up the various courses of the ? run of the branch that runs by Acres Shop ? so called To the center of three pines, stumps in James Jordan's lines near the main Run of Spring Then along his line due South course to a stake in Susanna Acres dower line to Jordan's corner Thence S 27 W 285 poles to an oak and a dogwood on tool's path in Lewis Thomson's line to James Jordan's corner Thence along the path N29 1/2 @ 20 pole Then N42 W24 pole to the main run of Jumping Run Swamp Then out the various course of the main run of the said Swamp and branch to the first station To have and to hold the said Tract or parcel of land & premises with all and singular the appertenances conveances and privileges thereunto belonging in anywise appertiaining to the ?, use and benefit of him the said Richard Veal, his heirs and assign forever and the said Jesse Hodges for himself, his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns shall and will forever warrant and defend the right and title of the above graned land and premises unto him the said Richard Veal his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns against the claim or claims of all manner of reasons whatever.
