Elizabeth Veale to Dempsey Veal & others

To all people to whom these present may come, I,
Elizabeth Veal of the county of Bertie and State of
North Carolina send greeting.

Know ye that I, Elizabeth Veal, for and in
consideration of the natural love and affection which I
have and bear unto my beloved son, Dempsy Veal, and
daughter, Agnes Veal, Margaret Ruffin, and Catherine
Grimes, and for divers other good causes and
considerations  ?  hereunto moving have given and
grated and by these presents do give and grant unto the
said Dempsy Veal, [Agnes omitted probably in error],
Margaret Ruffin and Catherine Grimes, and their lawful
heirs begotten of their bodies to be equally divided
among them (after my death and my debts paid) all my
land and plantation lying and being in Halifax County
and statae afroesaid, which formlery belonged to my
deceased brother, Stephen W. Carney. 

Also a piece & parcel of lands lying and being in
Bertie County and State aforesaid joining the lands of
the heirs of Richard Veale deceased and Agnes Veal, all
my right title and interest in my stock of horses,
mules, cattle sheep, hogs, household and kitchen
furniture, plantation utencils, and the remainder of my
property, that I know hold in possession.

To have, hold and enjoy all and singular the goods and
chattles, real and personal estate aforesaid, unto the
said Dempsey Veal, Agnes Veal, Margaret Ruffin and
Catherine Grimes their heirs excutors, administrators
and assigns to the only proper use and behoof of them
the said Dempsey Veal, Agnes Veal, Margaret Ruffin and
Catherine Grimes their heirs, exor, admin and assigns
against all persons whatsoever, shall and will warrant
and forever defend by these presents. 

In witness whereof I the said Elizabeth Veal hath
hereunto set my hand and seal. 

This 25th day of May in the year of our Lord one
thousand eight hunred and twenty nine.

State of North Carolina, Bertie County August Term 1829

This deed of gift from Elizabeth Veal to Dempsy Veal
and others was proved in open court by the oath of John
J. Ruffin one of the subscribing witnesses thereto and
ordered to be registered.

Note: Elizabeth is widow of Thomas Veal whose will was
probated 1806 and is also on-line.  John's will
mentions another son, unmarried Thomas Veal.
