To all to whom these presents slall or may come, Greetings in our Lord God Everlasting know ye tht we the siad Lords and absolute propriators according to our great deed of grand bearing date the first day of May Anno. Domni 1668 given our County of Albemarle under our lands and freat seal of our province doe hereby give and grant unto Major Robert WEST a tract of land containing ___ ___ forty acres lying in the precinct of Chowan on the west side shore of Chowan River, begining at a pine in the Widow Barne line, then West four hundred and seventy pol to a pine then North two hundred and fory pole to a pine, then East four hundred & twenty pole to a pine in Edward BRYANS line then along his line and the Widow BARNES line to the first STATION being due for the Importation of one person for every fifty acres as appears upon record under this patent. To Have and to Hold the said land with all rights and previledges of hunting, bowling?, fishing and fowling,with all wood waters and rivers, with all profits, comoditioes and here do ____? to the same belonging or apperaining except one half of all gold and silver mines unto him the said Robert WEST his heirs and assigns for ever in as large and ample a manner to all intents and purposes as by the said deed is granted or intended excelling? and ___ unto us our heirs and successors yearly? twenty ninth day of September the fee Rent of one Shilling for every fifty acres here by granted to be held of us our heirs & successors in free and common soccate? Provideed that if the said Robert WEST, his heirs or assigns shall not seat and plant or cause to be seated and planted thereon within three years after the date hereof, then this patent to be void or otherwise to stand? and be in full force Given under the seal of the Colony this twentieth day of JulyAmo Dom 1717. Robert West The name WEST was on the will of John MACLAND VA 1704. As mentioned above this tract of land was adj to Edward BRYAN on west side of Chowan River. And also the "first STATION" is mentioned again.
