BERTIE COUNTY Bill of Sale Slave - Weston to White-1818 File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Molly Urquhart State of North Carolina, Bertie County Know all men by their presence that I, Wilder Bird, a constable of said county by virtue of an execution to me handed against the goods and chattel of Malichi Weston in favor of George White and to the _____ doth levy and expose to public sale for ready money, as the law directs the property of Malichi Weston, vis. one Negro girl, Anis, the daughter of Aggy. Whereas David Pruden among several other bidders being the highest and last bidder became the purchases of the above named Negro for the sum of sixty three dollars and thirty five cents, which was the highest price could be obtained, I do hearby sell and deliver to said bidder the above named Negro by virtue of this execution grant a title as far as my office as a constable do permit. Whereon I do set my hand and offer this 17 January 1818. signed and delivered in presence of Witness Richard P. Freeman E.
