JOSEPH WILLEY to THOMAS HOLDER Deed Book F, Page 369-370, "North Carolina --- To all people to whome these Presents shall come, Greeting, Know ye that I, JOSEPH WILLIE, of Bertie precinct in the County of Albermarle, for and in consideration of the sum of forty pounds province bills of North Carolina to me in hand paid before the ensealing hereof well and truly paid by THOMAS HOLDER of the same Province and Precinct aforesaid the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge and my self fully satisfied and contented and thereof. & of every part and parcel thereof do acquitt & discharge the said THOMAS HOLDER his heirs Exec'ors, admin'ors forever by these presents have given granted bargained sell allien convey and confirm unto him the said THOMAS HOLDER his heirs and assigns forever a parcell of land lying the N. E. side of Cashie Swamp containing one hundred and eighty acres be it more or less lying in the Precinct afores'd Beginning in the Swamp at the mouth of a Branch and up it to a gum then a strait course to a pine then along to a red oak on THOMAS WILLIAMES line then along THOMAS WILLIAMS line to the Swamp & along the Swamp to the first station. To Have and to Hold the granted & Bargained Premisses with all the appurtenances privileges & commodities to the same belonging or any wise appertaining to him the said THOMAS HOLDER his heirs and assigns forever to his & their only proper use benefit & behoof forever and I the said JOSEPH WILLIE form my self my heirs & executors and administrators do covenant promise & grant to & with the said HOLDER his heirs and assigns that before the ensealing hereof I am the true and lawfull owner of the above bargained premisses and am lawfully seized & possessed of the same in my own proper right as a perfect estate of inheritance in the fee simple and have in my self good right full power and lawfull authority to grant bargain sell convey & confirm the said bargained premisses in manner as above said and the said THOMAS HOLDER his heirs and assigns shall & may from time to time & at all times forever hereafter by virtue of these presents lawfully peaceably & quietly have hold sue occupy possess and enjoy the said demised & bargained premisses with appurtenances free & clear and freely & clearly acquitt exonerate and discharged from all manner of formes, gifts, grants, bargains, sales or any incumbrances and furthermore I the said JOSEPH WILLIE for my self my heirs executors and administrators do covenant and engage the above demised premisses to him the said THOMAS HOLDER his heirs & assigns the lawfull claims and demands of any person or persons to warrant & defend as witness my hand this 20th day of November 1735.
