No attempt has been made to correct errors in punctuation or spelling. This the Indenture made this the 10th day of March in the year of our Lord one Thousand Eight Hundred and Twenty one between William Britton of the state of North Carolina and county of bertie of the one part and Joseph horne and godwin Cotton Deacons in the Baptist Church known by the name of Sandy Run of the other part witneseth that the said William Britton for and in consideration of the love Good will and natural affection he hath and beareth unto the said sosiety of Christians hath given granted aliened Enfeoffed and Confirmed unto the said Joseph Horne and godwin Cotton and their succesers in office for the sole use of the Baptist society meeting House a certain peice or parcell of Land lying and being in the state and county aforesaid on the East side of sandy run. Beginning at the Black gum standing near the mouth of a branch emtying into sandy run thence a strait course to black gum near the meeting house a corner from thence a Strait course to a spanish oak a corner near the road thence thirty yards along the Road to a black Corner then a strait course to a white oak near the meeting house a corner thence a strait course to a sweet Gum a corner thence a strait course to a maple a corner on the branch then a strait course to the first station supposed to contain five acres more or less to have and to hold the said mesage or track of Land and premises and premises hereby given and granted unto the said Joseph Horne & godwin Cotton and their succeseers in office to the only use and behoof of the Baptist society forever and the said William Britton for him self his heirs Executors and administrators doth covenant and grant to and with the said Joseph Horne and Godwin Cotton and their succesers in office as Deacons in the Baptist society that they shall and may lawfully from thence fourth for everhereafter peacibly and quietly have hold ocupy Posess and enjoy the said Track or tenement of land to the only use and behoof of the said Joseph Horne and godwin Cotton and their successors in office free from all charge or demand of or by him the said William Britton or his heirs executors or administrator or any other person or persons lawfully Claiming or to Claim by from or under him them or any of them in witness hereof I the said William Britton hath hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year above written - the words supposed to contain five acres more or less between the twenty first and twenty seckond lines was interlined before signed signed sealed and delivered in presents of Wm.
