BERTIE COUNTY Deed - James Grimes to Richard Veale - Feb 8, 1804 File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Virginia Crilley varcsxi@hot.rr.com Bertie County, NC Deed Book T pg 227 Grimes & wife to Veale This indenture made this 8th day of February one thousand eight hundred and five between James Grimes of the State of North Carolina and county of Bertie of the one part and Richard Veal of the same state of the other part. Witnesseth that I the said James Grimes hath bargained, sold and put into possession of the said Richard Veale a certain tract or messuage of land lying and being in the sate and county aforesaid lying in ROCQUIST POCOSIN it being a part of the land that belonged to Morris Veal's dec'd. Butted and Bounded as follows: Beginning at a water oak William Veal's corner Thence along his line S 67 E 50 pole to a red oak in said line, Isaac Gardner's corner Then along his line S 50 W 36 pole to the center of two beaches and a pine in said line Richard Veals' corner Then along his line N 24 1/2 W119 pole to the first station first mentioned hence. Beginning at a sweet gum N50 W53 pole to Isaac Gardner's line, then along his line S 70 E 54 pole to a black gum in William Veal's line then along his line S22 W17 pole to the first station all which lands within the above boundary containing EIGHT acres be the same more or less. I the said James Grimes for myself, my heirs, executors or Administrators or assigns hath bargained sold and conveyed to the said Richard Veal , him, his heirs, exr, Adm with all privileges profit or advantages therein contained or in otherwise appertaining to him and his use for the sum of TEN POUNDS to me the said James Grimes to me in hand paid the receipt whereof thereby acknowledged and myself satisfied and paid and further more I, the said James Grimes do warrant and agree to and with the said Richard Veal to forever warrant and defend the title of the above premises of land unto the said Richard Veal clear from all encumbrances rights or claims of any person whatsoever for me, my heirs, executors, Administrators as witness my hand and seal the day date above mentioned.
