The Hermitage is the old Mebane home. Dr Alexander Wood Mebane built the
home and one of my gg grandfathers James Rascoe Rayner married his widow
and lived there also. Dr A. W Mebane's mother was sister to my ggg
grandmother Sallie Wood who married John Wheeler of Murfreesboro.  Sally
